Large Fire Shuts Down Nairobi Airport
Published at(NAIROBI) — A large fire at Nairobi’s main international airport forced all inbound flights to be diverted and outbound flights to be canceled Wednesday.
Crews worked throughout the morning to contain the fire at Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, one of East Africa’s largest transportation hubs.
There was no immediate word on what may have sparked the fire, and there were no early reports of injuries.
At this time, the fire is not believed to be terror-related.
Across Africa on Wednesday, people are marking 15 years since the 1998 embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania that left more than 200 people dead.
