(BRISTOL, Tenn.) — NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Matt Kenseth won Saturday’s running of the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway. It’s his series leading fifth victory of the season and assures him at least a Wild Card spot in the Chase for the Championship.
“It’s a huge win for us,” Kenseth said after the race. “The Bristol night race is one of the biggest races of the year. It’s one of the most fun races to win. It’s been a while since we won one.”
Kasey Kahne was on Kenseth’s bumper for the final few laps, but was unsuccessful in trying to maneuver pass him. The driver of the number 5 Chevrolet settled for second place, putting him eighth in the series standings.
Juan Pablo Montoya, Brian Vickers and Joey Logano rounded out the top five.
