The NFL fined the Washington Redskins quarterback $10,000 for wearing unauthorized apparel before Monday night’s preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Griffin wore a T-shirt with the words “Operation Patience” on it while warming up before the game.  He is not expected to play this preseason as he recovers from a torn ACL.

The second-year quarterback dressed in full uniform during the game, but the NFL also requires players to follow their uniform rules before the game.

The Redskins open up the regular season with a game against the Philadelphia Eagles.  Barring any setbacks, Griffin should be the starting quarterback that night.
