The right-hander hit Rodriguez on the left elbow on a 3-0 pitch in the top of the second inning. In the sixth, Rodriguez would get his revenge as he hit a solo home run off of Dempster. New York would come from behind to defeat Boston, 9-6.

After the game, Dempster said he was pitching inside to Rodriguez and wasn’t trying to hit him.

Also fined was Yankees manager Joe Girardi for his argument with umpire Brian O’Nora after Dempster was allowed to stay in the game.
