Wheelchair-Bound Man Struck by Car

(BLACKFOOT, ID) – A man in a wheelchair was hospitalized Monday after he was hit by a pickup in a crosswalk in Blackfoot.  Seventy-two-year-old Richard Williams was crossing with his motorized wheelchair at the intersection of U.S. Highway 91 and East Pacific when he was struck by 25-year-old Shane Mitchell of Firth. Williams had to be extricated from beneath the vehicle and was later taken to EIRMC. Traffic around the crash was diverted for about three hours while crews worked to secure the scene. Williams was listed in serious condition as of Monday night.
