The fire, which was eight percent contained as of Monday morning, was ignited by lightning on Aug. 7 and fueled overnight by high temperatures and wind gusts of up to 38 miles per hour.

The hot weather will continue in the area this week and more thunderstorms are possible.

So far, more than 2,200 residences have been evacuated.  According to officials, 1,150 firefighters are working with 10 helicopters and eight bulldozers to expand fire lines.
