Yosemite National Park Fire Grows Overnight
Published at(GROVELAND, Calif.) — The wildfire burning near Yosemite National Park has become one of the biggest fires in California history.
The blaze grew more than 7 square miles from Saturday night to Sunday morning. It was 7 percent contained as of Sunday morning.
The fire, which began last Saturday, has threatened over 4,500 homes, ABC 7 Los Angeles reports.
Winds are expected to reach up to 26 miles per hour, fueling the fire, according to ABC 7 Los Angeles.
The fire has also threatened San Francisco’s water and power supply. On Friday, Gov. Jerry Brown issued a state of emergency in San Francisco.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
