(POCATELLO, ID) – The Bannock County Sheriff’s Office is raising money for a new armored vehicle. Sheriff Lorin Nielsen says their current vehicle is fully equipped to shield officers from small caliber firearms. However, because high caliber rifles are becoming more common,  Nielsen wants to ensure that area police are fully protected in potentially dangerous situations, citing several recent incidents of violence that resulted in fatalities. He says the vehicle will service at least seven southeast Idaho counties and will cost less than a typical firetruck.
