Child Dies in From Gunshot in Yellowstone

(YELLOWSTONE, ID) – A child was shot and killed in a campground in Yellowstone National Park over the weekend.  Park officials say they received an emergency call from the Grant Village campground Saturday morning. According to dispatchers, the victim’s mother said that her daughter had shot herself with a handgun. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not indicated whether the shooting was the result of an accident or whether it was a suicide. The victim’s name has not been released.
