Company Wants to Build Small Reactor at INL

(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – An Oregon company wants to build a small nuclear power plant at the Idaho National Laboratory. NuScale Power says the INL’s expertise with nuclear engineering makes it the perfect place to build it. However, INL officials remain skeptical, noting that unless the plant is able to produce affordable electricity, it won’t be considered. Company officials say the modular plant takes up about 44 acres of space and can be disassembled and moved just about anywhere. They hope to be in full operation within the next decade
