The report claims that the girl, 12,  and some of her classmates were on a class trip last year when the student were instructed to re-enact slavery by pretending to be sold at auction and in fields picking cotton.

The girl said that she was told she would be whipped if she ran.

The trip, to Nature’s Classroom, an environmental-based outdoor education program, was intend to be an “empathy-building activity,” the program director told the Daily Journal.

The complaint was filed to the state Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. The Daily Journal reports that the program is being altered.
