Floyd Mayweather Makes Over $41 Million in Winning Fight

Ethan Miller/Getty Images(LAS VEGAS) — Professional boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., 36, will take home over $41 million after Saturday night’s fight.
Mayweather earned $41.5 million on Saturday when he beat Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in their WBC/WBA 154-pound title fight in Las Vegas.
According to ESPN, the fight sold out the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Over 16,000 people attended the match, setting an all-time gate record of $20,003,150.
Saturday night’s fight is likely to set the record for the richest event in boxing history, according to ESPN. The current all-time pay-per-view record is 2.44 million buys, set from another Mayweather win in 2007.
Alvarez, 23, will take home about $12 million, ESPN reports.
