Running back coach George Ragsdale will take over on an interim basis.

Williams first led the Tigers in 1998, but left in 2004 for a front office job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He returned in 2011, leading Grambling State to a Southwestern Athletic Conference championship.

Last season the Tigers went 1-10, including 0-9 in league play. This year, they lost their opener to Alabama State, 23-9, and last weekend they were trounced by Louisiana-Monroe, 48-10.
