“Grand Theft Auto V” Sales Surpass $1 Billion In Three Days

LEON NEAL/AFP/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Sales of the highly anticipated video game Grand Theft Auto V surpassed $1 billion during its first three days on the market.
“Grand Theft Auto is a cultural phenomenon and Rockstar Games continues to redefine what can be achieved in interactive entertainment,” said Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of Take-Two. “We are incredibly proud of the extraordinary critical and commercial response to Grand Theft Auto V.”
The news comes after the title delivered the highest first-day sales of any game in the history of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.
Earlier this week, Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of Take-Two, told Yahoo Finance, “All of us at Take-Two are thrilled with the initial response to Grand Theft Auto V. Once again, the team at Rockstar Games have outdone themselves, setting the entertainment industry’s new standard for creativity, innovation and excellence.”
