Greek Yogurt Recall Prompted by Reports of Illnesses, FDA Says

Brady Dillsworth/Bloomberg via Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — Chobani has issued a voluntary recall of its Greek yogurt, prompted by complaints of people who became ill because of mold contamination. Now, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has information about just how many people have gotten sick from eating Chobani’s yogurt.
Eighty-nine people have reported becoming ill after eating Chobani Greek yogurt, the FDA tells ABC News.
Chobani issued the recall last week, saying a mold common to dairy was found in some of its yogurt cups. Chobani told stores to destroy 35 flavors of yogurt that could be contaminated.
The FDA says it’s working to speed up the recall.
