(ISLAND PARK, ID) – A grizzly bear was killed by a person in Island Park earlier this month, spawning an investigation by state and federal authorities.  Officials with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service say the female grizzly was killed Sept. 12, though they did not offer details about the incident. The bear had two cubs that were born earlier this year. Some concerned citizens argue that the cubs ought to be put in a rehab program until at least next spring. However, biologists have opted to follow a policy of leaving the cubs alone, because they stand a better chance of living a healthy life in the wild than they do in captivity.
