Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said the 13-time All-Star will miss the remainder of the year.

The 39-year-old Jeter missed the first 91 games of the season after breaking his left ankle during Game 1 of last October’s American League Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers. In 17 games this season, he batted .190 with one home run and seven RBIs.

Jeter last played on Saturday against the Boston Red Sox, when he was removed after experiencing soreness in the ankle.

To bolster their infield depth, the Yankees acquired shortstop Brendan Ryan from the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday for a player to be named later.
