Kids Start Language Immersion Program
Published at | Updated at(RIGBY, ID) – Students in Jefferson Joint School District 251 have now started their new language immersion program. Over 160 kindergartners and first graders are being taught math and science in Spanish only, with an additional 100 students at South Fork Elementary learning in Chinese. Experts believe that kids who remain enrolled in the program through high school will have language skills comparable to native speakers. Though the program is in its infancy, it’s so popular that upcoming students will likely have to enter a lottery to enroll next year.
