Kings Reward Center DeMarcus Cousins With Four-Year Extension

According the ESPN, the deal is expected to exceed $60 million. The deal has no player or team options, so Cousins will theoretically be with the team until the 2017-2018 season.

The 23-year old Cousins was the fifth overall pick in the 2010 draft, and joins John Wall, Larry Sanders, and Paul George as the only members of that draft class with extensions so far.

Cousins talent has never been in question. In three seasons, he’s averaged 17.1 points and 9.9 rebounds per game, and is still improving as a player.

But he’s also been criticised over the years for his attitude and behavior.

He’s been near the top in foul calls during his career, and has received multiple suspensions. Last December, he was suspended by the Kings for “unprofessional behavior,” which is a reason he received a four-year deal instead of five.
