(IDAHO FALLS, ID) – A welfare check out of Jefferson County turned into a high-speed pursuit along I-15 Tuesday.  Idaho State Police say 44-year-old Floyd Long was spotted driving north of Idaho Falls, but refused to pull over when troopers attempted to stop and check on him. Although the circumstances surrounding the welfare check were not released, authorities say they were forced to use spike strips to stop Long. He then crashed his vehicle and had to be taken by ambulance to EIRMC for treatment. He was listed in serious condition as of Tuesday evening.
