New Co-Anchor at “SNL” Weekend Update Desk

Dana Edelson/NBC(NEW YORK) — Seth Meyers will have company at the “Weekend Update” desk when NBC’s Saturday Night Live kicks off its 38th season on September 28.
SNL creator Lorne Michaels says that second-year cast member Cecily Strong will be Meyers’ co-anchor on “Weekend Update.”
Strong has appeared in the segment in the past as a character referred to as the “Girl You Wished You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party.”
Michaels hopes Meyers will continue with “Weekend Update” once Meyers takes over for Jimmy Fallon as host of NBC’s Late Night next February.
