The average new parent loses a grand total of 44 nights of sleep in the first year of their baby’s life, according to the study by Ergoflex, a British manufacturer. Healthy adults should average about eight hours of sleep each night. But according to the survey of 1,800 people, new moms and dads were losing 2.9 hours every night, which amounts to 20.3 hours lost each week.

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic say the good news is it gets easier as the baby gets older. By three months, most infants can sleep for five hours straight, and by six months, they can sleep 12 hours.
