The 49ers (1-2) are coming off their first two-game losing streak under head coach Jim Harbaugh.  They’ve managed just 461 total yards and turned the ball over seven times in back-to-back losses to the Seahawks and Colts.

Colin Kaepernick has thrown for just 277 yards with no touchdowns and four interceptions in the past two games, a far cry from the stellar numbers he put up during his rookie campaign.  He will face a Rams defense that yielded 31 points to the Cowboys in Week 3.

The Rams (1-2) may catch a break Thursday night, facing a 49er defense that is already without linebacker Aldon Smith.  Smith was placed on the reserve non-football injury list Monday as he enters rehab for substance abuse.  The 49ers may also be without fellow linebacker Patrick Willis and cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, who are both nursing leg injuries.

“All you have to do is put on a series here or a series there of our matchup last year, either one of the two games against the 49ers, and we’ll have their attention,” Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said.

Kickoff is set for 8:25 p.m. ET.
