Palin, the former half-term Alaska governor, is lending vocal support to Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, who engineered a one-man protest Tuesday against funding the Affordable Care Act.

Cruz doesn’t have the backing of GOP party leaders, something Palin pointed out to Fox News host Neil Cavuto by waving a symbolic white flag to demonstrate the weakness of the “Republican establishment.”

According to Palin, the GOP’s 2008 vice presidential nominee, a third party already exists in the U.S.  She told Cavuto, “We have the liberal party, the GOP machine, and then we’ve got the good guys.”

Those “guys” include Cruz, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Utah Sen. Mike Lee, who have all aligned with the Tea Party, as has Palin.

Emphasizing her own maverick roots, Palin claimed, “I’ve always been very, very independent.  Up here in Alaska, it’s why I’m not in the good graces of the Alaskan political party when it comes to Republican machinery.”
