Rangers Snap 7-Game Losing Streak, Blast Rays 7-1
Published at(ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.) — Ian Kinsler, Elvis Andrus and Leonys Martin all homered leading the Texas Rangers past the Tampa Bay Rays 7-1 Sunday.
The win snaps the Rangers’ seven-game losing streak and puts them in a tie with Tampa for the top AL Wild Card spot.
“You’ve got to have a sense of relief when you lose seven in a row and you know you’re a better team than that,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said.
Alexi Ogando pitched five innings, allowing two hits, one run, one walk while striking out five as he won his first start since Aug. 13.
The Rangers (82-68) and the Rays (82-68) will square off again Wednesday. Derek Holland (9-9) opposes Chris Archer (9-7).
