They received it when Dayrl Smith intercepted Matt Schaub and returned it for a touchdown in the second quarter, sending the Ravens to a 30-9 win over the Houston Texans.

Tandon Doss returned a punt 82 yards for a touchdown to help the Ravens (2-1) take a 17-9 lead into halftime.  They outscored the Texans 13-0 in the second half to seal the victory.

Baltimore’s defense hasn’t given up a touchdown since their opening night loss to the Denver Broncos.

“We do feel we’re as far along as we could possibly be with this group,” head coach John Harbaugh said. “We haven’t given up the big plays.”

Bernard Pierce stepped in for the injured Ray Rice and rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown.  Torrey Smith hauled in five passes for 92 yards.

Texans safety Ed Reed returned the Baltimore for the first time since leaving the team in the offseason.

“Baltimore has a great defense,” Reed said. “I told the guys coming into this game, defensively they’re going to know every move that you’re making, everything that you’re doing.”

The Texans failed in their bid to start the season 3-0 for the second-consecutive year.
