Published at(AUSTIN, Texas) — A Texas appeals court on Thursday overturned the 2010 money laundering conviction of former Republican House majority leader Tom DeLay.
Judges ruled 2-1 that there was not enough evidence to convict DeLay.
The 61-year-old disgraced politician was convicted for funneling $190,000 worth of corporate political donations to Texas candidates in 2002.
DeLay, who is nicknamed “The Hammer” for his hard-hitting political style, never served his three-year sentence as he was released on bond while appealing his conviction.
