ADP: Private Sector Grows by 166,000 Jobs in September
(NEW YORK) — ADP released its latest payroll report on Wednesday — and it could be the most important report on employment this month.
The payroll firm says 166,000 private sectors jobs were added last month, which is right around the average for the past three months. However, the figure is less than the job creation totals from earlier this year and below what’s needed to cut unemployment.
Normally, the Labor Department would release its monthly employment report for September on Friday morning. But because of the government shutdown, that will likely be delayed, so the ADP report could be the best indicator of the state of the jobs market.
