(BLACKFOOT, ID) – The Bingham County Courthouse is boosting its security protocols starting next year. Sheriff Craig Rowland tells KIDK that the county is hiring two full-time and two part-time employees to run a metal detector and X-ray machine, following a similar pattern already in place in Bannock County. Those carrying firearms will have to have valid concealed carry permits, and those without permits could face a fine. Authorities hope to have the new system up and running by January 1.
