NUP 154312 0008? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1382388112758Peter Kramer/NBC(LOS ANGELES) — The Voice’s Cee Lo Green was charged on Monday with one felony count of furnishing a controlled substance, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Green, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, “allegedly slipped ecstacy to a 33-year-old female while the two were dining at a downtown Los Angeles restaurant sometime between July 13 and July 14, 2012,” the D.A.’s office said in a statement.

Green and the woman later went back to her hotel, the statement added, but prosecutors declined to file a charge of rape, “citing insufficient evidence.”  The woman had previously accused Green of spiking her drink.

Green on Monday reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charge he faces. His attorney said the singer will post 30 thousand dollars bail.

Green reportedly is required to be formally booked by the Los Angeles Police Department in the next week; he’s expected to do so within the next 24 hours.

Before this news, Green had been in good spirits.  In an interview with ABC News Radio, he said he was flattered that so many fans were rooting for the singer to win this season on The Voice, a reality singing competition on which Green is a celebrity coach and mentor to young talent.

“So many people are rooting for me to win. I hear it from everybody, ‘It’s your year!'” he said.  “You know, even the guy at the gas station, I’m like, ‘Give me 50 on two,’ and he’s like, ‘Here ya go, also it’s your year!’  So many people are married to this show, so it’s great.”

If convicted, Green faces up to four years in prison.

Green’s manager could not be reached for comment.
