Corporate Earnings Still Pushing the Markets Higher
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — More often than not this week, earnings reports moved the markets, and that was the certainly case during Friday’s trading session.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 61 points at 15,570.28. The Nasdaq Composite added 14.4 points to close at 3,943.36. The S&P 500 rose 8 points and closed the session at 1,759.77.
Tech companies led the way Friday. Solid sales of tablet computers helped Microsoft’s latest numbers beat expectations. The tech-heavy Nasdaq is at a 13-year high, while the Dow and the S&P had their third straight week of gains.
