Feds Won’t Prosecute Former Prison Guards
Published at | Updated at(BOISE, ID) – The U.S. Department of Justice has opted not to prosecute any current or former guards at the Idaho Correctional Center south of Boise following a civil rights investigation into Corrections Corporation of America. U.S. Attorney Wendy Olson says that while it’s clear that inmate-on-inmate violence has been a problem at the prison, there isn’t enough evidence to prove that guards were culpable in those assaults. Federal law prohibits guards from deliberately failing to intervene when they witness assaults taking place.
