Still, Christopher Aber and his wife, Christina, have declared bankruptcy, making it difficult for Rooney to collect the cash.

The couple settled with Mickey’s conservators, after allegations they pilfered the actor’s money, deprived him of food and medicine, and even held him against his will in his own home, reports TMZ.

Rooney, 93, may be able to get his money back by suing Christopher and Christina’s insurance company.  The pair has a homeowner’s insurance policy that Mickey’s attorneys argue may cover the theft.  However, the insurance company claims the alleged abuses were intentional, and not covered under the policy.  Rooney’s lawyers plan to sue the insurance company anyway for the $2.8 million, plus punitive damages.
