Health and Human Services spokeswoman Joanne Peters confirmed the outage, saying, “Terremark had a network failure that is impacting a number of their clients including HealthCare.gov.” The website allows the uninsured to enroll in health insurance plans.

Peters says Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius discussed the situation with the CEO of Verizon Sunday afternoon and “they committed to fixing the problem as soon as possible.”

On Saturday, Sebelius called attention to the Affordable Care Act’s online Data Services Hub in a blog post titled “What’s Working in the Marketplace: The Data Services Hub.”

Sebelius released statistics on the number of Americans who have used the site to highlight its success since the rollout.  As of Friday, the post says nearly 700,000 Americans completed an application through the marketplace.

The White House is promising all glitches will be fixed by the end of November.
