Simpson Votes Yes to End Shutdown
Published at | Updated at(WASHINGTON, DC) – Congressman Mike Simpson was the only one of Idaho’s four delegates to vote to reopen the government. In a statement released Wednesday night, Simpson said he had to do what he felt was best for his constituents, especially those working at the Idaho National Laboratory. The rest of Idaho’s delegation voted against increasing the debt ceiling. In a joint statement, Senators Jim Risch and Mike Crapo said they could not, in good conscience, increase the debt ceiling because it ignores the current overspending problem. Last night’s vote will reopen the government until at least January 15
