Stephen Vogt Leads Oakland A’s Past Detroit Tigers, 1-0

10 6 13%20Baseball%20A?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1381067795636iStockphoto(OAKLAND, Calif.) — Athletics catcher Stephen Vogt singled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth as Oakland shutdown the Detroit Tigers in Game 2 of their American League Divisional Series on Saturday night, 1-0.

After striking out in his previous three at-bats, the 28-year-old Vogt came through in the clutch with a bases loaded hit.

A’s rookie Sonny Gray and Tigers ace Justin Verlander matched zeros on the board, with Gray striking out nine over eight innings of work while Verlander struck out 11 across seven innings.

The series is now tied at one game apiece as they shift to the Motor City for Game 3 on Monday afternoon.
