Reza Olangian was arrested in Estonia a year ago and brought to New York to face charges that he tried to help arm the Iranian military with surface-to-air missiles.

Court records say he was successful in 2007, but by the time he tried again in 2012, a confidential source of the Drug Enforcement Administration had caught on.

After his arrest, prosecutors say Olangian admitted to working for the Iranian government to arm that country’s military aircraft.

He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
