The announcement was made from each players high schools live on ESPNU Friday.

Although Okafor, a center, and Jones, a point guard, never played with each other in High School or AAU the two have planned to attend the same college for over two years.

“I’ve known Tyus since I was in about third grade, ” Okafor said. “We played against each other in Orlando, Florida for the nationals. I beat him in the Elite 8 which I often brag about. We rekindled our friendship my Freshman year playing with USA Basketball. We went over seas to Mexico to win the gold medal and also did the same thing in Lithuania the following year.”

Okafor and Jones were also considering attending Kansas.
