Otter May Consider Arkansas Medicaid Plan

(BOISE, ID) – Idaho Gov. Butch Otter is considering a plan that would use a federal waiver to use Medicaid funds to help low-income families buy private insurance. The move comes at the behest of the Idaho Association of Commerce and Industry, which is pushing the plan as a “free-market solution” to a state-run health insurance exchange. Experts say the waiver has been successfully used in Arkansas to provide better insurance coverage for poor people. So far, Idaho lawmakers have mulled the possibility of expanding Medicaid coverage
