Kennedy and the National Geographic Channel is marking the tragic moment in United States history with the airing Sunday of the TV movie Killing Kennedy.

Rob Lowe stars as JFK, with Ginnifer Goodwin cast as his wife, Jacqueline. Killing Kennedy is based on the book co-written by Fox commentator Bill O’Reilly. The story tracks the lives the Kennedys and assassin Lee Harvey Oswald and his wife Marina as their paths cross in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.

Will Rothhaar plays Oswald and Michelle Trachtenberg portrays Marina Oswald.

Lowe tells ABC News Radio he listened to a lot of recording of JFK’s voice in order to get it just right.

When asked if he thinks Kennedy could be elected in today’s political climate, Lowe replies, “There are so few moderates today, and I think it would have been hard for him to survive the primary fight to get the nomination.”

Killing Kennedy airs Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
