Phillips takes over while head coach Gary Kubiak recovers from a transient ischemic attack he suffered during halftime of the team’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts Sunday.
“I’m just keeping the seat warm,” Phillips said. “It certainly changes game preparation this week, practice preparation, those kind of things. We are keeping the same schedule as far as when we meet, when we go to practice, all those things. I don’t want to change their routine that way. We are changing a few things in practice that we think will help.”
Phillips has served parts of 11 seasons as a head coach. During that time he compiled a 82-61 record acting as the leading man for Dallas, Buffalo and Denver while also serving as the interim coach for Atlanta and New Orleans.
