US Issues Travel Warning for Egypt

N 061312 TravelWarning?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1383799557259ABC News(WASHINGTON) — The State Department has renewed its Travel Warning for Egypt, urging Americans to limit “all but essential travel because of the continuing political and social unrest.”
 
The message warns of protests that have “degenerated into violent clashes between security forces and protesters, and between protesters supporting different factions, resulting in deaths, injuries, and extensive property damage”; the use of firearms at those protests; and the death of a 21-year-old U.S. citizen at a demonstration in Alexandria in June.
 
The warning comes days after Sec. John Kerry visited with Egyptian leaders to begin his current Middle East trip. Kerry met with acting President Adly Mansour, Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy in Cairo on Sunday.
