Amazon Makes More than 2.5 Million Price Changes Per Day
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — Analysis from a leading price intelligence firm revealed that Amazon.com “implements over 2.5 million price changes every day,” far more than brick-and-mortar retailers did over the entire month of November.
Profitero, a leading provider of online pricing data, reported on Saturday that Amazon has increased the number of daily price changes by 1,000 percent in the past year. In December 2012, Amazon made just 269,113 price changes per day.
The numbers are even more shocking when compared to those of retailers like Walmart and Best Buy, who make between 52,000 and 55,000 price changes each day. The constant price changes allow Amazon to regularly deliver the most competitive prices on the market, Profitero says, thereby helping them avoid losing sales.
