At Least 60 Arrested Following Violent Clashes Near Cairo School
Published at(CAIRO, Egypt) — Students supporting to Muslim Brotherhood fought with police at Cairo’s Al Azhar University, leaving one student dead, according to the BBC News.
In the clashes, at least two buildings caught fire. Authorities blamed the students for the fires, though the students denied responsibility. The flames were brought under control but some 60 people were arrested.
On Wednesday Egypt’s military backed government declared the Brotherhood a terrorist organization, the latest in a series of crackdowns on the group since the ouster of Egypt’s Islamist President Mohamed Morsi. Thousands of Brotherhood members have been arrested in the crackdowns, the BBC News reports.
