Bethine Church Dies at 90
Published at | Updated at(BOISE, ID) – The wife of Idaho’s last Democratic U.S. Senator has died. Bethine Church, the matriarch of the Church family and wife of the late Frank Church died Saturday evening at the age of 90. Church rose to national prominence in 1976 when her husband ran in the Democratic presidential primary against future president Jimmy Carter. Sometimes referred to as Idaho’s “Third Senator” because of her influence in politics, Church became a widow in 1984 when her husband died of cancer at the age of 59.
