(REXBURG, ID) – BYU-Idaho is in the process of converting its heating plant from coal to natural gas. The university recently requested a permit to make the conversion from the Department of Environmental Quality. As a result, the campus will be able to produce much of its own electricity. Both the city of Rexburg and BYU-Idaho have been working with Intermountain Gas over the past few years to bring more natural gas to the community. Administrators say the transition will be more cost effective and environmentally friendly.
