James missed Saturday’s win over Portland with a groin injury, but return to help Miami (24-7) deal Denver its seventh-straight loss.

“Great road win,” James said after the game. “Despite the injuries and despite the guys going out of the lineup today we had guys step up, and we need that.”

Chris Bosh and Ray Allen combined to score 30 points as the Heat won for the ninth time in 11 games.

While the Heat were pleased to welcome back James, they lost Dwayne Wade to back spasms.  He scored 12 points in 18 minutes before leaving the game at halftime. Reserve guard Norris Cole also left the game in the third quarter after taking a hard fall and hitting his face on the court at the end of a driving layup attempt.

Ty Lawson paced the Nuggets (14-16) with 26 points.
