New Year Right Time to Buy a New Car

GETTY 123113 NewCar? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1388485741297NTCo/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — If you can find a car dealer who’s open over the next few days, walk right in and possibly get yourself the best deal of the year.

Industry analysts say that many dealers are looking to meet their annual quota, which ends on Jan. 2.  If that’s the case, they may be willing to go down a lot further in price than what’s listed on the sticker or even advertised specials.

If they’ve already met their quotas, you might be out of luck, but you won’t know until you try.

One of the things that works in favor of the new car customer are lower gas prices.  Because of this, there is less demand for smaller cars, so therefore, a dealer may be more anxious to clear inventory.

Car shoppers who want even more savings might also look at small used cars.  According to Kelley Blue Book data, these vehicles are 17 percent lower in price than this time last year.
