C.J. Fair had 17 points and 16 rebounds in the win.

“They came out on fire. They kind of caught us off guard,” said Fair. “We knew the kind of team they are. It’s hard to have a defense for the type of offense they have for the first 5 or 10 minutes.”

That Villanova offense hit five 3-pointers in its early run before Syracuse’s defense clamped down.

Trevor Cooney hit six 3-pointers on his way to a team-high 21 points.

James Bell scored a game-high 25 points for Villanova (11-1) in the loss.

Syracuse (12-0) finishes the game as one of only eight unbeaten teams left in the Division 1 college basketball.
