Over 1.1 Million Enrolled on HealthCare.gov
Published at(WASHINGTON) — More than one million Americans have signed up for healthcare through the HealthCare.gov website, the Department of Health and Human Services said on Sunday.
In a message posted to the Department of Health and Human Services website, about 1.1 million people enrolled in healthcare plans via the Federal marketplace between Oct. 1 and Dec. 24. A staggering 975,000 of those enrolled in December alone.
Despite glitches and kinks marring the launch of the HealthCare.gov website, significant improvements in the site’s capabilities allowed a huge increase in online enrollment as the deadline to receive coverage on Jan. 1 neared. Enrollment over the last few days before the Dec. 24 deadline was almost double that of the early part of December, including 83,000 simultaneous users on Dec. 23.
Notably, December enrollment figures were reportedly seven times higher than October and November.
